MEET JENNIFER

Born and raised in the piney woods of Northeast Texas, Jennifer Lee understands small-town values. As the daughter of an oil field worker and first-generation college graduate, Jennifer knows change only comes through hard work, grit, and determination. Jennifer graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Child and Family Studies in 2007, before spending years working with survivors of domestic violence.

Since then, Jennifer was called to pursue her passion: education. With unwavering support from her friends and family, Jennifer became a public-school teacher at Killeen ISD where she has worked for the past 13 years. Dedicating her life to our children, Jennifer earned her Master’s Degree in Education Administration from Lamar University in 2017, putting it to use as a community advocate for students and teachers—all while coaching youth sports in Temple.

Today, Jennifer is still fighting for safe, equitable education for all students. As a single mother and youth athletic coach, Jennifer lives every day by the Rita Wilson quote, “Every child deserves a champion,” and for the children of District 55, Jennifer Lee will be that champion.

ISSUES

  • Education

Jennifer will fight to protect our Public Education System, ensuring that our schools are fully funded, our students are safe, and that our teachers are paid a respectable wage by:

    • Standing against any school voucher scam.

    • Supporting a COLA (Cost-of-Living Adjustment) for public educators’ pensions.

    • Reducing high stakes testing.

    • Prioritizing literacy in K-3 grades.

  • Healthcare

Jennifer believes that every Texan should have access to the healthcare they need, when they need it. Jennifer will fight to:

    • Expand Medicaid to reduce the number of uninsured Texans.

    • Restore equitable healthcare and dignity for all Texans.

    • Empower Texans to make decisions about their own healthcare without government interference.

    • Support access to family planning services and contraception.

  • Infrastructure

Jennifer supports building a stronger, safer Texas through infrastructure investment. Jennifer will work to:

    • Improve our state’s water infrastructure to reduce water shortages and better cope with increased demand.

    • Grow Texas’ renewable energy sector.

    • Invest in rural broadband access for all Texans.

    • Develop high-speed rail networks to offer new transportation alternatives for Texans.
